If you are able to conduct your profession via the Internet, then look into "travel-working." Breakthroughs in technology are allowing people to travel around-the-world for extended periods of time without the need for a strict budget.

FINDING/WINNING THE MONEY

No, I don't mean running off to a casino or buying a bunch of lottery tickets. I'm referring to grants, scholarships and fellowships. There are tens of thousands of these available every year for all sorts of things which could be applied to the aspiring traveler. However, this could limit your freedom to up-and-leave whenever you wanted to once you committed yourself to the terms of a grant, scholarship or fellowship. Nevertheless, check with your local university’s International Studies office. This is also true with hooking-up with a volunteer organization. You may be able to find one which would be willing to pay your way in exchange for a few months of your time and energy abroad.

While we’re on the subject of studying abroad and raising money, you might want to think about working abroad as a supplement to both your travel experience and budget.

Let's assume now that you are willing to trade your new Toyota 4x4 for a used Ford Focus, will move into the extra room of your co-worker, will part with your beloved pets, forego cable, nightly dinners out and trips to the mall and basically live like a third-world refugee. If you can trade your "American Dream" life-style for a simple one where you will bank about €/$1,000 a month, then you will most likely succeed in your travel preparations. However, if your bottom line is still a little short, I offer these fund-raising ideas.
