You know, traveling, especially as an independent (or so-called “backpacker”) takes a certain amount of cojones. (Cojonas if gender female.) Not just because you’ll have to set aside your current lifestyle and usual way of doing things long enough to see what people in other countries are doing or how they are living, but because doing so can be a little bit scary. But I mean good scary, and certainly exhilarating, because the process of preparing for and actually traveling abroad LONG-TERM will most likely change your life forever. Yikes!
On top of that, planning to support yourself while you travel might force you to grow another set of cojones/as. To attempt this lifestyle puts you at the forefront of an ever growing wave of people who are realizing that they don’t have to be “at work” to bring in their income. For once, technology really is being used to make our lives more rewarding and freer.
By the time you’re done absorbing these informative, yet compact, bites of information, no longer will your reply to a bragging traveler friend be, “I wish I could travel like that” to their “I just got back from a six-month overseas trip, blah, blah, blah...” No. Not again. Never again! Instead, you’ll reply with, “Six months, is that all? Heck, it took me six months just to get my first web photo-album finished—sheesh!”
